Farmland

All but 26 acres of the 409 acres of farmland in this project are organically farmed, with crops rotating between strawberries and other row crops. Up to 16 acres of farmland will be returned to wetlands.

The Land Trust has already reached agreements protecting another 1,000 acres of farmland in the Pajaro Valley through conservation easements. This is the first time the Land Trust has sought to acquire and hold farmland. The Land Trust will lease these lands to local farmers and use the revenue to support stewardship, restoration, and education on these lands.
