The first in-person general meeting of the Santa Cruz County Weed Management Area post-COVID, was hosted on the Land Trust's Watsonville Slough Farm (WSF) in April. It was a windy, somewhat chilly but still spectacular afternoon for sharing ideas and techniques for returning the land to native plants.

The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County acquired 14 acres of core habitat critical to the recovery of the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander. Located in the heart of Larkin Valley, this upland wooded habitat known as Little Glen, is adjacent to a 40-acre privately held open space, creating 54 acres of contiguous preserved habitat.

Here in Santa Cruz County, we are connected to the land in so many ways. It’s critical to our well-being and this connectedness is why we work so hard to preserve and safeguard it.
