How to Protect Your Land

Landowners have a variety of reasons to want to protect their land – to pass it on to future generations, to preserve its special beauty, to continue a way of life built on the land.

Those wanting to protect their land find many obstacles in their path – estate taxes, the lure of development money, the threats to farming and mountain communities.

The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County works with landowners and others in a variety of ways to protect land.  Some of the lands we protect have been donated to us.  We have purchased others.  In most cases we have protected land through preservation agreements, called conservation easements.

If you want to protect your land, we want to talk with you about how we can help.
