We have two part-time job openings at the Land Trust – one to work on our Watsonville Slough Farm trail planning and one to become the new caretaker at Byrne-Milliron Forest.

These positions are funded from donations that make up most of our annual operating revenues. Our $600,000 Challenge is all about funding the behind-the-scenes work that leads to protecting land, building trails, and taking care of the land…and everything from our annual audit to health insurance to payroll for the people who do the work protecting our county.

The importance of donations, and the fact that over half of them come in in December, makes this time of year a little anxious for us. We check online donations all day and wait for the afternoon mail. I keep reminding myself that our donors keep coming through year after year – because you care about protecting this county as much as we do.

If you haven’t yet made your donation, I hope you will do so now. And, if you have, thank you so much.
